Take it to the Max

Everybody, Everywear has a new challenge for April: The maxi dress.

I have a few long skirts, and find them very versatile. I own two maxi dresses too, and this one is a chameleon. In summer, I can wear it on its own, with sandals. I can throw on lot of bangles and a necklace and dress it up, but it can also be a beach cover up.

In cooler months, I can layer it under a blazer or cardigan and wear it with boots. I have yet to belt it, but I think that would be a nice alternative too.

To celebrate National Poetry Month, I’m including a poem in every post. Here’s today’s:

From Two Tramps in Mud Time
by Robert Frost

The sun was warm but the wind was chill.
You know how it is with an April day
When the sun is out and the wind is still,
You’re one month on in the middle of May.
But if you so much as dare to speak,
A cloud comes over the sunlit arch,
A wind comes off a frozen peak,
And you’re two months back in the middle of March.

You look great in a maxi dress! WOW! I thought maxis would look dated from the last century (exception – evening wear)! Your style, with jacket and boots and haircut, make it look fashionable! I would like to see a pic of your summer suggestion with bangles and sandals. Perhaps we’ll have to wait till the days get warmer in Seattle.

  2. I love how you styled the Maxi to be able to wear it to work. But what I really love is the cut of this blazer, very VERY chic!

  3. Love your maxi! At first I thought it was a pair of dress pants in the first picture 😛 My eyes were playing tricks on me. That blue is a fabulous color for you. Thanks for stopping by my blog and for your lovely comment 😀

  4. You have one of the classiest-maxi dress looks I have seen all day! Way to take a traditionally hippie look and turn it into a classy work appropriate look….I am impressed!!

  5. That dress DOES look versatile! I love what you’ve done with it here. The blazer really goes well with the blue dress!

Don’t you look chic. Love the light colored blazer with your darker maxi.
I also wanted to take a moment to say thank you for adding that little poem. It made me smile.

  9. Ooooh – I love the “professional” maxi dress look! So chic – and your hair “tops” it all off nicely! You look great! Cheers!

  15. Love your maxi look! It’s so sophisticated without being stuffy. The perfect balance. I’m so happy to read the Robert Frost poem. He’s one of my favorites. My Honey gave me one of his poem’s written in calligraphy for Christmas. Happy Friday. 🙂
