Light Pink and Dark Blue

Here’s a color combo I don’t wear a lot: Ballet pink and navy blue.

Cardi: Old Navy
Top: H&M
Pants: Eileen Fisher via Goodwill
Shoes: Jimmy Choo
Sunglasses: Florida Street Fair

I like the softness of the pink paired with the blue. I ruched these pants myself so they’d change from tapered ankle, out-of-date trousers to “the latest thing.” I’ve seen harem styled pants and wide, flowy cropped pants in magazines and thought I’d copy that style. I’ve worn these a few times. I even tried this last year with socks and sandals. Might as well break some rules now and then.

The pants look best with heels, but flats are more practical sometimes. The subtle gold sparkle on my cardigan ties in the gold toes on my shoes.

Do you alter clothes to make them your own?

  1. I’m loving this casual but cool look. No, I do not alter my clothing but I really should. Just yesterday I tried on a couple of items and thought that they would better if I made a minor change! Ha! Shoes are fab, by the way! 🙂

    • Sometimes small changes make a big difference. I removed belt loops from a jacket yesterday because they were too low. The jacket looks much better now. Sometimes a pro is the best person to make alterations but I think it’s money well spent. Glad you like the shoes. They were my tax return splurge 😉

Lovely colour combination! I used to make changes but lately plan to and have some great ideas, but don’t get around to it (too much time on the computer – or traveling – when I should be at the sewing machine). Thanks for inspiring me!

  3. Love that you reworked the pants to make them more current! That’s the ultimate in upcycling. Really liking the slide show, is that going to be your new format?

    • Glad you like the slideshow! I’d like to use it in posts where the photos are similar–it saves people from scrolling 🙂 I’m a fan of upcycling, and had to experiment with my Goodwill find.
