About a year ago I saw a really neat blouse in a department store. Designer. And about a hundred bucks. I couldn’t pull the trigger but I didn’t forget how cool it was. A semi-sheer, red and black snakeskin print shirt. Kind of like this one:
Top: Ross Dress for Less
Tank: Old Navy
Jeans: Banana Republic
Shoes: Seychelles
Cuff: Swapped
I’m glad I resisted the urge to splurge. A few months later, while looking through the racks at Ross, I found a strikingly similar top for a fraction of the price.
Here, I’ve stuck to a limited color scheme: red and black (one of my favorites). But I think this is a prime candidate for pattern mixing and for being part of a more colorful outfit. So I’ll be sure to try it in a few different ways.
I like the “collarless” collar of the shirt. It’s basically a Nehru or Mandarin style and will probably be versatile.
Have you ever bought something and later found it on sale (or resisted a splurge and found a deal later)?

“Resist the urge to splurge” love it! I’ll have to try that sometime. 😉 Actually, I do it a lot. I just went shopping on Saturday and I could’ve spent a thousand dollars in one store if I had bought everything I wanted. However, I left the store with a sweet little sundress and a darling vegan purse, minus $50 in my wallet.
Love your snakeskin blouse, I bought a similar style (long, semi-sheer) but it’s blue with tiny white flowers that look more like small clusters of dots. I wore it last week, but didn’t take a picture yet.
Your total look, with skinny jeans and cuff, is so stylish!
I love that shirt. And the styling is perfect. The cuff is just great.
Thank you! I was so happy that having self-control paid off 🙂
Love the snakeskin pattern, such a fun addition to the black and red combo.
love the leaning on the car pose! and outfit.
Thanks! I really like shadows and reflections so I HAD to use that one!
