I bought this chambray dress last winter when hubby and I were in Honolulu, Hawaii. In the tropics, all I did was slip into a pair of sandals and I was ready to go. There are only a few days in Seattle when I can do that (even on hot days, evenings are cool). I wanted to get lots of use out of this piece so I planned to style it a lot of ways.
Dress: Roberta Oaks
Cardigan: Old Navy
Tights: Target
Shoes: Aerosoles
Belt: Ross Dress for Less
Purse: Forever 21
A cardigan (I call this one my Mr. Rogers sweater) over the dress adds warmth, as do the tights. For fun (and because I like breaking rules), I added purple shoes. Who says purple and red don’t go together? These shoes are a similar hue to the tights and they blend a bit.
I plan to wear this in a few other ways too. Over skinny jeans, with knee-high boots, hmm. I’ll probably think of a few more ideas. Do you have any?
I’ve joined Monday Bloom today so be sure so check out what everyone else is wearing.
That combination of colours is great. I get exactly what you mean about the shades of the shoes and tights – they both have a sort of rich vibrancy. K x
Thanks! Yes, it’s hard to explain. I usually like it when shoes blend in to tights (elongating) but that doesn’t mean both have to be the same color.
I have those same purple shoes! I was just thinking yesterday that I need to get those out!
I’d love to see how you style them!
Cute look!! You could also wear black leggings with black boots and a black cardigan. Perhaps a wide red belt and yellow purse for a pop of colour. 🙂
Excellent idea! I have a red belt and a yellow purse. And keeping the rest neutral will make those two accessories stand out,
I love how you style the shirt dress with blue tighst and a red sweater! Now I´m wondering how I can I style my shirt dresses. 😉
Thanks for stopping by! I’ll pop by your blog and see how you end up styling your shirt dresses!
cute see through handbag- and I love the chambray dress- with the red cardi and bright blue tights- nice stems!
Thank you! No secrets with a transparent bag, eh? I was looking for a bit of color so I added the cardi and tights. But I don’t need to justify that to you–you get it 🙂
I LOVE the bag. Super cute outfit.
Thanks! I really liked that bag when I saw it. It goes with EVERYTHING!
Very cute. Great way to modify a Summer dress for Autumn. Perfect since it is sweater season.
Thanks! Funny, as much as I love summer, I am looking forward to sweater season.
Very bold and daring colors, Jean! Love it. I especially like the blue tights, and your idea for the skinny jeans with high boots. I think that will look great. It’s going to a very long time before we see some sandal weather again 😦 But I’m kind of excited for sweater season….just wish it weren’t so damn long!
Thanks Lynn! I think I’d like sweater season better too if it weren’t so long. My new pedicure might never see the light of day 😦
love the colors here! and what a fabulous bag!!
